5th annual Ramp Up℠ the Conversation 

Session: Improving Consecutive Mode

Recall techniques; sensory integration; controlling the flow for improved communication via consecutive and simultaneous modes; note taking habits; performance strategies via TPR techniques; guided performance role play; language resources.

Description: Skilled interpreters will be challenged to improve consecutive mode focusing on scenarios and vocabulary related to brain trauma, seizure disorders and memory loss. Peer to peer feedback, self-assessment, and recordings. Guided practice engages attendees to use multi-level registers, vocabulary, and set new performance expectations. This 3.5 hour session challenges attendees to move out of the comfort zone into the top performance zone.

Learning Objectives:

  • Guided practice of consecutive modes through multi-level role plays
  • Identify current skill levels and set new goals for improvement
  • Engage in multi-tasking while rendering the communication
  • Improve consistency and confidence
  • Identify and implement self-assessment and self-correction
  • Implement vocabulary resources and practice resources

To participate in this session, interpreters are required to have completed a fundamentals training. Designed for the experienced interpreter. Individuals must complete session attendance and evaluation requirements to receive certificate of participation.
